Marathias is in 20 km distance to the romantic city Nafpaktos.
In the area are a lot to see and explore: small villages by the sea, archeological places, a diversity in cultural sites and venues.

Not to forget, that within 30 min you are in the mountains for second to none Trekking moments, Rafting-, and other extreme sport activities.

Nafpaktos is known as one of the most picturesque town in Greece with its venetian port, the old castle overlooking the city, a worth while visiting town museum, nice beaches and good cafeterias and tavernas. There you find everything for your stay in Marathias: Banks, Supermarkets and Shopping facilities, Medical Center.

Galaxidi (40 min distance) A picturesque historical town of the Fokea area. Worth while to visit on a day trip the Maritime Museum, St. Nikolaos church.

Delphi (1 hour drive) is the “centre of the world” based on the Ancient Greeks. Worthwhile seeing are the archeological sites: Apollon Temple, the Stadium, the Oracle of Delphi and its Museum.

Arachova (1,5 hours drive) famous for its skiing facilities next to the Mount Parnassos in winter.

Monastery Osios Loukas (1,5 hours drive) is one of the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and art, and has been listed on UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, along with the monasteries of Nea Moni and Daphnion.

Kalavrita (2 hours drive) is famous for the Diakopto-Kalavryta Rack Railway which was built by Italian engineers between 1885 and 1895, while it is also known for its ski resort in winter.

Ano Chora (1,5 hours drive) is an idyllic mountain village, beautiful in all 4 seasons. Good for trekking, staying overnight in the mountain hotels and for its excellent meat food.

Monastery Varnakova ( 30 min. drive) The Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin in Varnakova, Dorida, was established by monk Arsenios in 1077 AC in the era of Patriarch Kosmas. The graves of the Byzantine Komninos family lie in the Monastery. Its library is rich including Athanasios Diakos’ manuscript, calling on Greeks to rise up in 1821.
